The sky was velvet black, with little holes of light shining through.
Icefeather sat beside a pool, her tail swishing. She concentrated on a certain cat, and they appeared.
Dapplepaw.
Icefeather watched the familiar black and orange pelt weave through a mass of cats. It stopped outsie the Medicine Cat Den, then went inside. As it fell asleep, Icefeather felt a tingle of restlessness. It was time to go.
As she watched, the pool image vanished into a reflection of tbe sky. A path of stars twinkled.
Icefeathr dove in.
She approached the sleeping cat.
"Dapplepaw,"she said coolly

Dapplepaw hadn't really expected to dream normally, so she was able to recover from her surprise at the StarClan cat's voice quickly. She yawned, stretched, and stepped forward, dipping her head to her mentor. "I'm here. What are we learning today?"

(I know, special powers ) Icefeather just nodded her head and a cat appeared. It limped forward, limping. "Dapplepaw." It complained. "I've got a thorn in my paw!" "Do you know what to do?" Icefeather whispered, slinking into the shadows. "The point of this lessln is to guide you through healing."

Dapplepaw jumped when the cat suddenly appeared. She stared, wide-eyed, until it complained of a thorn in its paw and Icefeather asked if she knew what to do. She nodded then as Icefeather explained that this lesson was meant to guide her through healing.
"I think so," she responded, turning to the unfamiliar cat. "May I see?" She glanced to Icefeather. "I pull the thorn out as gently as I can and then have them lick the area, right? Well...after making sure it's not infected."

Icefeather smiled as Dewpaw asked to look at it.
"That is correct." She said. While she waited for Dapplepaw to finish she created another cat that had a scratched ear that was waiting outside the den.

Dapplepaw pulled the thorn out as gently and carefully as she could. "All right, you'll want to give that pad a good lick and take it easy for the rest of the day."
She turn moved to the new cat and attempted to sniff its ear, checking for infection.

Icefeather watched in approval as the cat limped slowly out of the den, licked it's paw, and disappeared. She turned to see Dapplepaw looking at the scratched ear.
To test how squeamish she was, when Dpplepaw finished, a cat with a ripped stomack appeared on the floor.
"Remember, these are shadow figures I made, they're to help with learning, and othr than treating, you can't touch them." She reassured her, waving her paw the the cat. "They don't have feelings."

Dapplepaw all but forgot about the scratched ear as soon as the cat with the ripped stomach appeared. Her eyes widened and she shivered. This...this was a clanmate that looked just like freshkill! In the back of her mind, she'd known she might have to experience something like this eventually, but knowing and actually seeing were two different things.
She was snapped out of her horror by Icefeather's voice. She nodded, vaguely understanding, and turned away. "I...I need cobwebs, right? And a poultice of some kind?" She wished she could remember...had that lesson even come up yet? In any case, she needed to gather those webs, and she dug through the medicine store to find them.

Icefeather watched as Dapplepaw cringed at tbe sight of the ripped cat. She hesitated, loseing trust in herself for a minute, then hardened up.
~She would have to see it sometime!~

Dapplepaw collected cobwwebs on her tail and searched through the store, looking for herbs she recognized that might help. Finally, she found some horsetail and grabbed a mouthful, chewing it as she made her way back to the cat with the stomach wound. She chewed the horsetail into a thick paste and spread it on the wound, and then spread the cobwebs over it to keep the medicine in place and bind the wound.
